The exposition "Jewish street - reconstruction" with curator Ivanka Gezenko, which can be viewed at the Regional History Museum - Sofia until April 19, was realized by the State Cultural Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs within the framework of the project "Strategic cooperation between Bulgaria and Norway in support of Bulgaria's international commitments to combat anti-Semitism and the preservation of Jewish heritage".
The exhibition presents a fragment of the interior of the synagogue in Kyustendil - Regional History Museum, depicting the six-pointed star.
One of the main symbols associated with Jewish identity and Judaism is the six-pointed star. It dates back to the time when the legendary Jewish king David had a star depicted on his shield. It was first used as a universal Jewish symbol in 1354, when King Charles IV granted the Jewish community in Prague the privilege of having its own flag with the Star of David. Since the 19th century, it has been used as a symbol of Judaism, analogous to the Christian cross.
