55 judges and prosecutors from district and county level, investigators and investigating police officers participated in the one-month e-learning course on “Sexual Exploitation. Criminal law regime”.

The organizer is the National Institute of Justice under the project “Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence”, funded by the Justice Programme of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021.

The training is developed by a multidisciplinary team of experts and addresses the current training needs of Bulgarian magistrates and law enforcement officials in the field of recognition, proof, qualification and individualization of responsibility in criminal acts of sexual exploitation and the problems of integration of relevant international and European legal standards.

The course provides for independent work with study materials, group activities oriented towards exchange of practice and experience (including case studies, forum discussions and participation in webinars), and a final test.

The training is aimed at the recognition of phenomena in the field of sexual exploitation and for the qualification and individualization in cases with factual and legal complexity and combined application of various criminal law institutes, including those related to actual and apparent aggregates with other crimes, competition of qualifications, complex criminal activity, etc.
