Minister of Justice Nadejda Iordanova inspects on the spot the construction of the new hostel at the prison in Vratsa. It will have a capacity of 250 prisoners and will meet all European requirements. The construction works on the reconstruction of the existing building, which is adjacent to the prison, were financed under the Justice Programme of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021. Construction work started in early March this year and is tentatively estimated to be completed by the middle of next year.
The investment project provides for the major renovation and reconstruction of all existing rooms and halls and their separation into dormitories with private bathrooms. The construction of bathrooms, a kitchen block, a sports hall and a meeting room, a canteen, a laundry room, rooms for the supervisory and administrative staff are also planned.
In the yard, in addition to outdoor seating, there are designed paths, green areas and sports grounds for volleyball, basketball and mini football.
