Three companies participate in the procedure announced by the Execution of Punishments General Directorate for the construction of a pilot prison linked to a staff training center and the construction of a half-way house in the village of. Samoranovo.
The deadline for the implementation of Phase 1 shall be no later than the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 eligibility date for expenditure, which is currently set at 30.04.2024, or the new deadline date in case of amendment, but no later than 5 years from the conclusion of the contract.
The estimated cost of the project is BGN 35 million, the price offers of two of the companies are around BGN 34 700 000, the third company, however, offers to build the facility and the accompanying objects for less than BGN 30 million.
At present, funding has been secured for the implementation of Phase 1, funding is to be secured for Phase 2 and construction will commence after the Employer has sent an Letter of Award.
The pilot prison project, related to a staff training centre and the construction of a half way house, foresees the demarcation of two areas, in terms of security, on part of the site of the existing prison facility in the village of Samoranovo. It is envisaged that 400 prisoners will be accommodated and 200 people from the system will be trained in the training centre.
