Press Conference presenting the projects of the National Institute of Justice, funded under the Justice Program of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021

„We have set ambitious goals to achieve during the 4-years implementation period of the NIJ projects under the Norwegian Financial Mechanisms 2014-2021 that will enable them accomplish sustainability of professional knowledge and skills on the application of fundamental rights and development of judicial training digitalization“. 
With these words, the NIJ director, Ms. Miglena Tacheva, summarized the content of the projects of the National Institute of Justice, in process of implementation with the support of the Justice Program of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 - „Modern learning environment for judges, prosecutors, investigating magistrates and other legal professionals” and „Preventing and combatting violence against women and domestic violence”, at a press conference which was held on 25 February 2021 via the platform for videoconferencing Zoom. 
Professor Nikolay Prodanov, Deputy Minister of Justice and Head of the Program Operator under the Justice Program addressed the participants and underlined the importance of the National Institute of Justice’s projects for achieving the goals of the Program for the effective application of the European legal framework and the established standards for the protection of fundamental rights. 62 representatives of the professional community - judges, prosecutors, judicial employees and experts took part in the public event. 
The NIJ projects total value of 3 324 911 BGN enhance and upgrade the results, achieved during the previous period of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism. To modernize the training environment of Bulgarian judiciary the NIJ will focus on training activities in innovative formats, translation in the Bulgarian language and dissemination of publications on the application of fundamental rights, development of training resources, enhancement of a specialized forum on human rights, technical and technological upgrading of the Institute’s infrastructure. 
Under the project „Modern learning environment for judges, prosecutors, investigating magistrates and other legal professionals“, the Institute works in partnership with the Norwegian Courts Administration, whose representative Iwar Arnstad emphasized that the cooperation established under the project will contribute to the exchange of professional knowledge and experience between the two institutions in the field of judicial training on the application of fundamental rights. 
Under the project „Prevention and combatting violence against women and domestic violence“ the NIJ works in partnership with the Ministry of Justice for a more effective prevention and counteraction to violence and an evaluation of the regional mechanism for interinstitutional cooperation, which will be established under the project of the National Legal Aid Bureau funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism.
Milena Kotzeva, Director of the “Procedural Representation of the Republic of Bulgaria before the European Court of Human Rights” Directorate at the Ministry of Justice, Pavlina Petkova, Professor on consulting and clinical psychology at the Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar , Kalina Petrova, Deputy Chairperson of the National Legal Aid Bureau and Blagorodna Makeva, Senior Commissioner and Deputy Director of the General Directorate National Police with the Ministry of Internal Affairs expressed their satisfaction with the excellent cooperation with the National Institute of Justice and extended their best wishes for the success in the implementation of the projects.
