By the end of February 2021, the conceptual design of the entire complex in Samoranovo should be ready, which includes the construction of a modern training centre for training and preparation of staff of the Execution of Sentences General Directorate /ESGD/ and a pilot prison.
The construction of a training centre with a pilot prison is part of the project "Enhancing the capacity of staff, building a pilot prison connected to a training centre and improving the rehabilitation of prisoners", whose beneficiary is the Execution of Sentences General Directorate, under the Justice Program of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021. Partners of the Execution of Sentences General Directorate in the implementation of the project activities are the University College of the Norwegian Correctional Service, Ona Prison and the Solholmen Transition Unit in the Kingdom of Norway.
On a site near Dupnitsa, experts from the selected design company began filming and surveying the site and the existing buildings.
The Deputy Minister of Justice and Head of the Program Operator of the Justice Program, Prof. Nikolay Prodanov, was also present at the inspection to establish the current technical condition of the site.
After the approval of the conceptual design, the selected company will have a period of another 3 months to present a complete working design for the site.
