The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) conducts training on the implementation of a coordinated approach to the protection of children from domestic violence

44 judges, prosecutors and judicial assistants from the district and county level, police officers and experts from the Child Protection Departments of the Social Assistance Agency took part in the e-learning course Protection of the rights of children - witnesses and victims of domestic violence (10.05-20.06.2022), organized by the National Institute of Justice under the project “Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence”, funded by the Justice Programme of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021.

The training course is developed by a multidisciplinary team of experts and is aimed at improving the interaction between the various institutions involved in preventing and combating violence against children and protecting children’s rights.

Representatives of the judiciary, others working in the field of justice and employees of the competent institutions in the area, participating in the training, will have the opportunity to get acquainted with and exchange experiences and good practices on issues related to the psychological aspects of domestic violence against children; the peculiarities of the proceedings under the Protection Against Domestic Violence Act and criminal proceedings initiated on criminalized acts of domestic violence involving children; the mechanisms for the prevention of retraumatisation of child witnesses and victims of domestic violence; multidisciplinary work in cases of domestic violence against children, as well as the specificities of the implementation of the measures under Article 5, items 1, 2 and 3 of the Protection Against Domestic Violence Act and the programmes and support services for violence against a child in the family.  

The training course provides for independent work with study materials; group activities integrating a multi-professional approach, oriented towards the exchange of practice and experience (including case studies and forum discussions in mixed groups) and a final test.
