The activities of the Center for Counseling and Legal Aid for Children in Plovdiv were presented during an information day at the Youth Center in Plovdiv.

The Center was established within the framework of the project ‘Specialized services for children in conflict or contact with the law’ and has been functioning since April 2023.

The project manager Dimitar Rusinov presented what has been achieved so far — the analyses and studies carried out, the reports prepared, the information events, trainings and workshops held, the partnerships established and agreements signed. He touched in detail on the stages through which the process of implementation of the social service has passed.

Rusinov focused on the profile of the children with whom he worked, the reasons for their inclusion in this group and gave examples of specific cases that show important trends in the Roma community.

Representatives of institutions and young Roma actively participated in the discussion. They were interested in the work of the specialists at the Center, the methods used with the children, the approaches to their problems and most of all the results achieved.

The project is funded by the Justice Programme of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014 — 2021 and aims to introduce and develop an effective integrated approach aimed at improving the status and opportunities of children in contact with the law in three Roma communities in Bulgaria — Pazardzhik, Plovdiv
