On December 22, 2023, the Programme Operator under the "Environment Protection and Climate Change" programme (BG ENVIRONMENT), cofinanced by the Financial Mechanism of the EEA 2014-2021, published an call for financing the initiative "SCIRENA II - Diagnostic analysis of the Black Sea marine environment with regards to military activities in the territory of Republic of Ukraine". The initiative has been approved by the Cooperation Committee of the EPCC Programme under of the EEA FM 2014-2021
Within the framework of the initiative, the focus is on the possibility that the ongoing military actions and the use of equipment (ammunition, grenades, missiles, drones, etc.) to have a negative impact on the marine environment - such as pollution caused by the discharge of waste water, an increased amount of marine waste, acoustic pollution, etc.
The deadline for submitting project initiatives is 15.01.2024.
