Short description of the project:

The project “Improving awareness of Roma arts and culture in the municipality of Boychinovtsi” aims to support the integration of the large Roma community in the small municipality of Boychinovtsi. The project aims to make a significant contribution to tackling existing stereotypes and to increase mutual understanding and respect through the ways of culture and the arts. The main approach of the project is to work with children and youth from the Roma ethnic group, and in the background - with the general public. Educational and cultural activities for a significant number of children and young people from the local school, activities and opportunities to support talent from an early age are envisaged. The project aims to improve the access of the Roma community to cultural life both in their role as audiences and as artists. Work will be done to encourage interest in creative activities and to build motivation for the professionalization of cultural activity. The project includes diverse and complementary activities such as:

  • building and operating mixed art groups in all city schools and groups in an active community center;
  • conducting two pilot editions of the annual summer cultural festival with performances by Roma artists in various arts - music, fine arts, theater;
  • vocational guidance and support for receiving vocational education or vocational training for children and young people with artistic talents;
  • educational artistic campaign to overcome stereotypes.
