Short description of the project:

The project proposal focuses on developing the museum as a PLACE OF COMMUNICATION. The project’s general goal for Varna museum to become a driver of social and cultural development of Varna and the region. This will be achieved by implementing the sub-objectives: modernising and expanding Varna museum’s exhibition spaces; developing the museum as a place of communication: a new space serving as crossroads of past and present, of different civilisations, and of modern society in all its cultural diversity; turning the museum into an attractive cultural and historical center for new audiences by introducing new technologies and innovations; enhancing the managerial and expert capacity of Varna museum's staff. Main activities: project organization and management; communication of project information and communication on the project, development of an entrepreneurial plan, training of Varna museum management and expert staff, revitalisation of premises by carrying out repairs and delivering new equipment and furniture; introduction of technological innovations; creation of a new permanent coin exhibition; study of experiences and good practices in cultural and historical heritage management in Norway’s regional museums. The project will deliver high results: a successfully implemented project with high added value for the city of Varna; effective transparency and visualisation of the project in accordance with the Programme; improved and increased management and expert capacity of the museum staff; newly attracted publics; improved and revitalised environment at the Varna museum; exchange of experience and good practices in cultural and historical heritage management in Norway; development and implementation of the Norwegian museum management model at the Varna Regional Museum of History; prepared entrepreneurial plan for the development of the museum.
