On 13 April 2022, sixteen projects were approved for funding under the BGENERGY-2.002 "Energy Efficiency in Buildings" procedure, funded by the "Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Energy Security" Program, which is financed by the EEA Grants 2014-2021. In the order of their ranking, these are the municipalities of Pernik, Anton, Samokov, Straldzha, Shabla, Septemvri, Dobrich, Vratsa, Saedinenie, Tryavna, Banite, Blagoevgrad, Malko Tarnovo, Shumen, Plovdiv and Vidin. All projects will be implemented with partners from donor countries.

The grant under this procedure covers 100% of the eligible costs of the projects. The aim of the implemented measures is to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and to transform them into near to zero energy buildings.

51 municipalities applied for funding under the procedure, of which 47 were approved for technical and financial evaluation stage.

The initially announced resource of € 10,700,000, including national co-financing, was increased at the expense of savings under the program. This allowed more projects worth a total of € 12,368,675 to be funded, each between € 250,000 and € 1,200,000. The deadline for their implementation is April 30, 2024.
