The Second Annual Meeting for the implementation of the EEA and Norway Grants in Bulgaria was held on the 22.10 in the city of Veliko Turnovo. The Donors' delegation was led by Ms Pia Holm, Deputy Director of the Section for Central Europe at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The delegation also included representatives from the Norwegian Embassy in Bucarest, the Embassy of Iceland in Denmark and the Financial Mechanism Office. Together with the National Focal Point for Bulgaria - the Central Coordination Unit Directorate at the Council of Ministers, the Certifying and the Audit Authorities, they discussed the advancement under the programmes and the implementation plan for the year 2020.
An important mark was put on the bilateral partnerships with entities from the donor countries. Joint expectations and commitment were expressed towards a more active approach in terms of calls for proposals, evaluation and project contracting. The meeting was also the closing one for the previous period of funding 2009 - 2014 with the confirmed successful closure of all programmes.
The Annual Meeting was followed by two project visits in Veliko Turnovo of projects implemented with the support of the EEA and Norway Grants: „Shishmanova Bath“ – completely conserved, restaurated and open for the public in 2017, as well as Ivaylo Kindergarten with a new heating system produced in Liechtenstein. It allows a constant temperature in the premises of the kindergarten while changing the fuel used from petroleum to gas. This makes the kindergarten much more energy efficient and improves the quality of air.
