Start of the construction of the Youth Center Montana under project BGLD-2.001-0004 "Establish a Youth Centre in the city of Montana"

Today started the construction of the youth center under project BGLD-2.001-0004 "Establish a Youth Centre in the city of Montana". The ambition is to turn the center into an attractive place for personal development of young people in the municipality, and subsequently the whole area, as well as to promote international exchange. The event was attended by the mayor of the municipality, Mr. Zlatko Zhivkov, the head of the Program Operator, Ms. Maria Vasileva - Valova, as well as its representatives, the district governor of Montana, Eng. Vanina Vecina, representatives of  the local Regional department of education, cultural institutions and the media.The project team made a live connection through its Facebook page, which enabled the project partners, Hringsjá Vocational and Education Center, Iceland, as well as other stakeholders to attend the event virtually.

Welcoming words were made by Mr. Zlatko Zhivkov, Mayor of Montana, sharing the future plans and results that are expected to be implemented after the construction of the center. Ms. Maria Vasileva - Valova, Head of the Programme Operator, expressed her confidence that the place will become a unique center and the thought of children and young people gives a bright ray of hope, and this is the optimism that we all need .

After the official ceremony "First sod", a press conference was held in the municipality of Montana, where the team presented the project, activities and the future building.The focus of the Youth Center is young people aged 15 to 29, who will have the opportunity to participate in various programs and initiatives through which to develop their potential, interests and civic awareness to become active, responsible and aware young people in their communities. Key activities in his work will be non-formal education, volunteering and youth exchanges, as well as joint work and exchange of experience with other youth centers in the country and in other European countries.During the press conference Nikolay Tsvetkov, youth worker, announced that some of the planned activities of the Youth Center - Montana in 2022 include organizing and conducting trainings in foreign languages and computer literacy, sports festival, summer school in Bulgarian for children, for which it is not a native language, and celebrating various thematic days.The Center's priorities are also building full partnerships with the other 8 youth centers in the country, which work together and are part of the National Network of Youth Centers.In April this year, an exchange of experience will take place in order to develop bilateral relations with the project partners from Iceland.
