Managers and practitioners in the GDES system returned from a study visit to the city of Kristiansand, Kingdom of Norway, where they learned about the overall correctional process.
The visit is in fulfilment of Sub-activity 1.6 "Study visit of 10 employees from the Department of Corrections and Probation Services in the Norwegian Correctional Service in order to familiarize themselves with the practices and standards for training and development of probation officers", under the "Strengthening the implementation of measures alternative to imprisonment" project, Justice Programme, Program Area 19 “Correctional Services and Pre-trial Detention” of the 2014 – 2021 Norwegian Financial Mechanism.
In the period 27 - 31.03.2023, the organization of work, the types of sentences enforced by the probation service, the work with young offenders, with drug addicts, the implementation of unpaid work for the benefit of society and electronic monitoring were presented to the experts from the State Department of the Interior.
The activity of the so-called Mediation Board, which works with victims of crimes and with persons aged 15 to 24, as well as the activity of the District Court in the town of Kristiansand were also presented.
Together with the Norwegian housewives, the officers of the State Department visited Froland Prison, Evie Women's Prison, as well as the Centre for Social Support, where the conditions for using various social services that provide opportunities for training, qualification and employment of convicted persons were presented.
The overall activity and organization of the Solholmen prison dormitory, the inter-institutional cooperation with the various governmental and non-governmental organizations were also presented.
