Bulgaria and Norway have signed the Environment and Climate Change Programme

The first Programme Agreement the new programming period under the EEA and Norway Grants 2014 - 2021 in Bulgaria has been signed during the Informal Environment Council on the 10th of April. Bulgaria receives 30,5 million BGN under the "Environment and Climate Change" Programme to be used for monitoring, management and improvement of the ecological status of the maritime waters and waste management and climate change. Projects will be funded with aim to upgrade the results from the previous programming period and to continue the good cooperation with the partners from the Donor States.

Mr. Ivan Ivanov, Head of the National Focal Point and Director of the Central Coordination Unit Directorate at the Council of Ministers, signed the agreement on Bulgarian side. Mr. Atle Hamar, State Secretary at the Ministry of Environment and Climate of the Kingdom of Norway signed the agreement for the Donors. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Neno Dimov, Ministers of Environment and Waters which is the Programme Operator.

Bulgaria will gain access to 210,1 million Euro for the new programming period to implement projects under the EEA and Norway Grants. Programme Agreements for local development, justice, home affairs, energy and culture programmes are to be signed by the middle of 2018.
